New BAScontrol22D BACnet/IP Sedona Unitary Controller Delivers Operational Enhancements

BAScontrol22DContemporary Controls has expanded its BAScontrol Series of BACnet/IP Sedona Unitary Controllers with the addition of the 22-point BAScontrol22D, which supports BACnet client/server operation over BACnet/IP. The BAScontrol22D was built on firmware release 4.0.x where operational enhancements were made to improve performance, develop more sophisticated Sedona components, increase application memory space, and to upgrade to BACnet release 15.

The controller complies with the B-ASC device profile with a convenient mix of 8 universal inputs, 4 binary inputs, 4 analog outputs and 6 binary outputs. The unit has 48 web components which link Sedona wiresheet readable/writeable data to web pages, and 24 virtual points which link Sedona wiresheet readable/writeable data to a BACnet client. Rugged design, low profile, and wide temperature operation make the BAScontrol22D suitable for indoor or outdoor use. The unit is powered from a 24VAC/VDC source.

These capabilities are highlighted in the video, "Introduction to the BAScontrol22D."

Additional memory was gained with the development of macro components (highly integrated configurable Sedona components) used in a new series of pre-built applications. "With these advancements, Contemporary Controls retains its mission of providing freely programmable, web-based open controllers with BACnet as the protocol and license-free Sedona as the programming language with non-restricted access to our free BAScontrol Toolset," said Harpartap Parmar, director of product management at Contemporary Controls. "In the coming year, we will release a total of four models in this series that support BACnet/IP over Ethernet, plus two models will have an MS/TP connection, and two models will support a digital wall setter port for local setpoint control."

Free by download is the BAScontrol Toolset that includes the Sedona Application Editor (SAE), BASbackup project archiving tool, and a BASemulator which is the next best thing to a real controller. "As part of the product upgrade, the SAE has undergone several enhancements to improve its editing functionality and its ability to adapt to both tablets and high-resolution screens," said Parmar.
