New Gigabit IP Routers and VPN Routers Introduced

Skorpion Gigabit IP routerThe Contemporary Controls EIPR/EIGR series of products allow you to create secure VPN remote access to your devices at the job site. The EIGR, acting as a VPN server, is installed in your office with direct Internet access. An EIGR or EIPR, acting as a VPN client, is installed at each job site. It can be behind firewalls and use wired or cellular (EIGR-C) networks to communicate with the EIGR. Once installed they provide a secure VPN connection between each other providing you with secure, remote access to the job site.

  • Secure VPN Access to Remote sites using wired or cellular connectivity
  • LAN side connected devices accessible from the Internet
  • Interface to Cable and DSL Internet modems
  • Secure traffic routing for connected devices
  • Built-in 4 port switch for multiple LAN connections
  • Wide temperature rugged design

Our new line of Gigabit IP routers now allows for faster speeds and higher data throughput. The EIGR IP VPN router family consists of wired secure VPN client/server features (EIGR-V), and cellular with secure VPN client features (EIGR-C) models.

EIGR VPN Routers

The EIGR-V VPN router allows for wired, secure VPN connection to remote sites. EIGR-V Skorpion Gigabit IP Router Features:

  • Web page configuration
  • 10/100/1000 Mbps WAN port
  • 4-port 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet LAN switch
  • Remote Router Access
  • Secure Virtual Private Network (VPN)
  • Client/Server
  • Whitelist
  • Stateful firewall
  • DHCP client (WAN) and DHCP server (LAN)
  • PAT, NAT, Port Forwarding and Port Range Forwarding
  • NAT Loopback
  • 24 VAC/VDC powered and DIN-rail mountable
  • CE Mark, RoHS, UL 508, C22.2 No. 142-M1987
  • Operates over 0° to 60°C
  • -40° to +75° C models available

In addition, the EIGR-C VPN routers allow for cellular, secure VPN connection to remote sites where wired connection is not an option. EIGR-C Skorpion Gigabit IP Routers with built-in cellular modems available:

  • EIGR-C1 (AT&T) 4G LTE 700, 850, 1700, 1900 MHz
  • EIGR-C2 (Europe) 4G LTE 800, 1800, 2600 MHz
  • EIGR-C3 (Verizon) 4G LTE 700, 1700 MHz

As an alternative lower cost solution, VPN-enabled EIGR routers could be used in conjunction with VPN client-enabled routers from the EIPR series – the EIPR-V, at sites where higher throughput or industrial temperature operation are not critical. In this lower-cost solution, the EIGR VPN-enabled router would be installed in the SI’s office as a VPN server, and the EIPR-V routers would be installed at the remote sites as VPN clients. Cellular communication on the EIPR-V is enabled by customer-provided USB cellular modem.

The EIPR-V is a wired VPN router which links two 10/100 Mbps Internet Protocol (IPv4) networks — passing appropriate traffic while blocking all other traffic. The built-in stateful firewall passes communication initiated on the LAN-side while blocking WAN-side initiated communication. With Port Address Translation (PAT), LAN-side clients can access the Internet. Network Address Translation (NAT) allows a one-to-one translation between LAN-side and WAN-side devices. With Port Forwarding, LAN-side devices can be accessed from the Internet. The EIPR-V incorporates a four-port Ethernet switch for multiple LAN-side connections. An external Ethernet-based modem – cable or DSL – can be used to connect to the Internet. DSL modems connect via the PPPoE protocol. Real-time clock and VPN client feature allows for secure VPN (Virtual Private Network) connection compatible with cloud-VPN service from Contemporary Controls (BAScloudVPN), or it could be used in conjunction with the EIGR VPN routers where no cloud service is necessary. These remote access solutions minimize windshield time.
