Controller Area Network (CAN) and Industrial Ethernet Training Day

Light+buildingMarch 2014 - Contemporary Controls Ltd., is teaming up with Warwick Control Technologies and Port GmbH to host a Controller Area Network (CAN) and Industrial Ethernet training day. Presentations will cover the distinct advantages that both CAN and Industrial Ethernet provide within industrial automation applications. Tabletop displays will accompany the presentations.

Automation networks must be safe, easy to deploy, easy to troubleshoot, operate in real-time, and support industry standards. Issues with real-time networks will be discussed, protocol options will be compared, and protocol stack implementation will be explained. Attendees will learn the basics of these technologies - including cabling and topology options, the protocols used to ensure interoperability, and the equipment required to both extend and diagnose networks.

Industrial Ethernet connects with the plant floor by utilizing a single cabling platform with Ethernet connectivity and IP addressing. This convergence of open, standards-based Ethernet communications provides all the advantages of secure, seamless interoperability among manufacturing enterprise networks and enables Internet and enterprise connectivity, anytime and anywhere. Besides system integration and interoperability, there are many other benefits obtained from implementing a complete, end-to-end Ethernet solution.

Training will be held on Wednesday, March 26 at the Heritage Motor Centre, Gaydon, Warwickshire, England. Lunch and refreshments will be provided, along with free entry into the museum that contains the largest collection of British Historic Cars in the world.
